Codex Daemons is GREAT. In many ways it is 4 codexes in one. Its easy to assume that just because there are 4 main factions described in the book but each one of these is incredibly fleshed out. There are warlord traits, psychic powers, a host of units, stratagems and relics.. Everything you need to make an awesome daemon army.
This show is all about Chaos Daemons. We hit the major changes from the index in the first few minutes. To be specific we talk about how the Brimstone Horrors have changed and lost their 4+ invul. I think we all knew this was too good. Now we’ll see a much bigger variation on what people take to fill out their daemon troop section. I suspect we’ll see a lot more Pink Horrors and Plaguebearers.
The Snail Dude, Horticulous Slimux, makes his way into this 40k codex. He’s the character first seen in the Age of Sigmar Blight War box set. He has a LOT of rules and they are all good. He buffs Beasts of Nurgle which get a little bit of a point reduction in this dex.
We go over a few of the bespoke Warlord Traits as well. These traits assigned to the named characters are ok… They seem like they will be much better used on HQs you build out yourself from the codex entries. Either way… there are 24 of them in this book. You can mix and match to your heart’s content.
Next week we’ll go over more of the Stratagems, the Relics and the Psychic powers. There is just TOO MUCH in this book to hit it all in one week. Still… the dex is amazing. It has a great, easy to use, layout. That is very appreciated.
