1850 Iron Hands Army List

Yo guys,  I get asked a lot to kick around list ideas with people.  Here is a fun list for local RTTs that I can actually see taking down a top spot.

This request came with a few stipulations.  It had to be Iron Hands, it had to have an Atrapos and it had to have a Sicaran.   These are obviously not terrible things to require, heh.  I mean, you guys know how much I love the Atrapos from listening to the show and maybe reading my review over on BOLS.

In this list I included a couple of the FW drop pods.  I think they, and the dreads inside, pair so well with the Iron Hands Chapter Tactic.   I break away from including scouts in land speeder storms for the same reason – the tac squads with the pods better benefit from the chapter rules.

The tac squad with more than 5 guys in it is a little wonky but I found myself with too few points to add anything meaningful and too many points just to squander on a few upgrades for other units.

The Lucius pods will give cover to the Atrapos as it advances and either the Atrapos will distract people from shooting at the command squad or the command squad will distract people from shooting at the Atrapos.   It is a choose your poison situation and I don’t think either choice is good.

The pods protect the flamer bearing Ironclads ensuring you are going to get some work done out of them.  Then the turn after they land, they are able to charge.

Turn 2 could end up going very poorly for your opponents depending on what you decide to charge, and with what, very early in the game.

You can also stagger your pods for the dreads to come on later in the game.  This can really be a headache for your opponent too since you’re likely taking out things that will hurt them.
