FTN Episode 495 – Getting Started With Old World – Unit Fillers

FTN small square

Now that folks have seen the rules and have an idea what to expect from the Old World.  How do you make those large rank and file units without breaking the bank?  We talk a little bit about that and continue to muse on things to come with the New/Old Game.

Hey folks,

Please consider grabbing an FTN T-shirt to help us celebrate the shows anniversary. The link can be found here. Proceeds will go to doing something nice for cast members of the show. The sticker is cool too and has been on my laptop for a year.  It’s the best sticker I’ve ever owned.

We also started a Patreon for the FTN show.  This will help us a lot in the form of being able to hire an editor and a few other things.   If it is anywhere within your ability to support us on that platform please consider doing so. The link is right here.

There are some amazing tutorials out there on how to make unit fillers for your rank and file games. These are sometimes huge time and money savers as they all you to cut down on the number of specific models you need to complete ranks for those sweet sweet rank bonuses.

After the break we talk a little bit about what it takes to make a ‘good’ 40k army as well.  There is so much talk out there on what people are hoping and waiting for from a Balance Data slate that I think some people have taken their eye off of the basics.

At this point we all know what the mission cards require us to do.  We need to have units in our list that are capable of that. These are the ‘new’ building blocks of 40k.  TONS of games are being played out there and the ones that are doing the best have a lot of list in their list… if you know what I mean.  Actually, you don’t have to guess, you just have to listen to this show. ha!

We’re delighted to continue to represent Discount Games Inc as sponsor of our show. They are helping bring FTN to you. Please check them out and support the organizations that support us. Discount Games Inc. offers Games Workshop products at 15% off the suggested retail at their website here. You can send an email to the owner Jay. These guys run a podcast too! Check them out.

The Hobby segment this week is all about repainting or touching up an old/existing color scheme or army. We have some t-shirts a really cool sticker up for sale to celebrate us being nine years deep into this show. Check them out here.

FTN mostly focuses on 40k, but again you will see in the first few episodes we take a severe deep dive into nerdom. These have been a blast to record and I hope they help pass the time for you. We are now on Pandora!! If you’re looking for another place to listen or you’ve shifted to that platform you can find us there.
