FTN Episode 232 – Necron Codex Review Part 1 and Adepticon Recap

FTN small square

We are very late with this show and I deeply apologize.  We kick the show off talking about some of the major changes in the Necron units.  This book is chock full of very appealing units. It will be difficult to settle on the ‘perfect’ list. That’s a good thing.

Hey guys,

We start the show talking about the Necron Deceiver.  This guy is able to re-deploy himself and d3 units before the first turn begins.  The d3 element is a little random but still something you can plan for as you’re looking to throw big units of warriors right in the face of your opponent.   Units get the ability to be re-deployed 12inches or more away from enemy units.

You can’t charge if you use this ability but I don’t think you want to.  You want to blast away after using several of the Necron character buffs and really strike a big blow on your opponent out of ‘nowhere.’  This is a powerful ability and the Deceiver is priced very competitively points wise for what he brings to the table.  There is nothing preventing you from setting up for figures WAY fat away from the enemy either.

Another huge change in the book is that Wraiths now do two damage with their attacks AND they can fallback from combat and still shoot and/or charge.  This will allow them to scoot over and behind screens with their wraithform ability.  HOLY MOLY!

The Finishing Moves segment is sponsored by Frontline Gaming. Their new mats are now hot off the presses and getting ready to be shipped. Please check them out, even if you already have a game mat. Their new styles are very impressive.

The hobby segment will return next week and we have barely scratched the surface of the Necron dex.  I am not kidding when I say this army deep with choices and multiple top build options.

Thank you and Enjoy!

Forge the Narrative is mostly a Warhammer 40k Podcast. Each episode is about an hour long. This ideally gives you something neat to listen to on your way to work, or on the way back home. Maybe you can even listen while you are painting or modeling!

FTN mostly focuses on 40k, but again you will see in the first few episodes we take a severe deep dive into nerdom. These have been a blast to record and I hope they help pass the time for you.
