FTN Episode 369 – Is Mortarion Too Good? Hot or Not? Death Guard Codex Review

FTN small square

The Death Guard are hitting people’s hands today and man oh man – This is what a Primarch is supposed to be.  Men tremble where this monster steps.  He is the lord of plagues and the reaper of men.  Wow.  But is it too good?  We don’t really answer that question but we do answer why he will be on a lot of tables. This is our review of the Death Guard codex.

Hey all,

Chaos has always sort of been the little brother of the Imerpium.   It had cool rules but always in that ‘rival’ category.  Not any longer!  This is our review of some of the highlights from the Death Guard codex.  It’s amazing.  This dex is a serious contender right out of the gate and not just due to the Daemon Primarch.  There is a lot of power in this book. Strap in!

The Las Vegas nOpen is this coming weekending!  Check out the schedule here. Please get some Merch if you can! You can grab a t-shirt and other goodies at the link here. If you order yours by Jan 15th you can have it in time for the event! We’ll have raffles and stuff coming too and as special giveaways for people that use the #lvno leading up to and during the broadcast. There are ton of amazing people partnered to make this happen. Please join us if you can.

What’s really cook about the DG is that you can make a case for many of the signature DG units.  Do you like playing with terminators?  Throw them in a list.  Do you like the idea of a legion of troops advancing through the mist in the iconic Rhino?   You got it!  Want to have the gibbering mouths of chaos nipping at the enemy?  Ohh boy… take 10.

This Codex is crowned by one of the most glorious giant models in any game – the Primarch Mortarion.  He is everything you would hope him to be.  He buffs your army while striking terror in the hearts of your opponent.  He belches plague and ruin as he glides across the field.  Yes, please.

This will be an incredibly strong army to face on the table. On the surface read it seems like it will be great at winning 9th edition games.  Meaning you will have durable troops camping on objectives and daring anyone to come close.  Once they come close, they will never get away!

For anyone who has read this far down we’ve recorded the first video with myself and Oscar Lars where we review a listener submitted model. It should be produced and ready to go mid November. Please keep checking back and if you have a model you’d like us to review for how it would stack up vs the Battle Ready standard and the Artists Standard, hit us up in a private message with a pic. This is coming soon- I promise!
