FTN Episode 218 – Dark Angels Codex Review – Can You Smell What the Rock is Cooking?
Codex Dark Angels is here, making this a very Angels of Death Holiday Season. We take our first pass at the codex this week. The Finishing Move’s segment this week is about painting black.
Hi all,
I apologize for the late post here. I’ve been without power due to a snow storm that hit my area. Power has been restored!
The Dark Angels benefit from being all around pretty good at a lot of what is great in 8th edition. They have ways to manipulate morale for themselves and against their opponents, they can move fast, and shoot a lot of plasma. What else could you want?!
Sammael and the Ravenwing Talonmaster are going to present some interesting challenges on the tabletop. If you choose the option where Sammael is riding in Sableclaw he and the Talonmaster are both land speeders that can’t be targeted by the enemy unless they are the closest model (because they are characters.) Sammael even keeps his Ravensword in this mode and keeps his 5 attacks at str 10 if he charges!
The DA Chaplains and the Librarians both impact morale for your opponent in their own ways spreading fear and dread to enemies of the Imperium.
Deathwing and Ravenwing, of course, get their own special flavor in this codex but there are new ways to field the ‘Greenwing’ too now that most of the space marine options are available to them.
The Finishing Moves segment is sponsored by Frontline Gaming. Their new mats are now hot off the presses and getting ready to be shipped. Please check them out, even if you already have a game mat. Their new styles are very impressive. If you haven’t already get your tickets NOW for the mega Las Vegas Open.
This segment is about painting black. We go over a few tips and suggest an off brand brush.

Forge the Narrative is mostly a Warhammer 40k Podcast. Each episode is about an hour long. This ideally gives you something neat to listen to on your way to work, or on the way back home. Maybe you can even listen while you are painting or modeling!
Alternatively you can subscribe via your own iTunes, and it should update our podcast when we post a new one.
