FTN Episode 253 – Sideshow Collectibles Spotlight and 40k Hobby Homework
I’m extremely pleased to welcome Sideshow to the show this week. We met at Gencon this year and recorded a segment about their first original property Court of the Dead: Mourner’s Call – a new board game. We speak about their design philosophy. amazing creativity and dive deep into the origins of their game. Later in the show we speculate about the 40k FAQ we can expect later this year and give reason to finally keep a hobby journal.
Hey Everyone,
In the first segment of the show Paul sits down with Tom Gilliland, Sideshow Chief Creative Officer and Creator of Court of the Dead, Rachel Roubicek, Sideshow Designer (played a key role in the design of almost all the Court of the Dead characters) and Matt Molen, Sideshow Sr. Concept Designer (sculpted many of the Mouners Call miniatures). You can find information about the game by clicking here and more about the world and characters in the game by clicking here.
I was absolutely fascinated with how into their work these guys are. It was great to hear that they were also huge fans of the properties represented in their statues and art. If you haven’t already, I highly encourage you to check out the Sideshow website. You’ll be blown away.
In the second part of the show Ricky, Chris and Paul get back to the 40k talk. We speak a bit about a short form battle report we posted on YouTube and rank the Space Wolves vs the rest of the Space Marine Chapters.
We then talk a little bit about what hobby stuff we’ve been working on and stress the importance of keeping a hobby journal. When you are coming back to an army or a faction or whatever after you haven’t touched in months you might forget some of the colors you use. Never forget when you wright it down!!
We close out the show with a segment about the Dragon Fall convention. There are SEVERAL 40k events going on at this convention in the Chicago area. These guys put on a great show. Please check them out if you can. October 20th-21st.

Forge the Narrative is mostly a Warhammer 40k Podcast. Each episode is about an hour long. This ideally gives you something neat to listen to on your way to work, or on the way back home. Maybe you can even listen while you are painting or modeling!
Alternatively you can subscribe via your own iTunes, and it should update our podcast when we post a new one.
